Identification Information: General

To enter text, simply click in a white text box. If you would like a larger box to work within, double click in the white area and a larger editing box will pop up, as shown below. The pop-up boxes are only available for those fields that are likely to contain long entries, such as the Abstract or Purpose.

An Abstract should be an overview description of your dataset and any background information that would be useful to a data user.

The Purpose is a shorter statement of the intended purpose of the dataset.

Access and Use Constraints alert a potential data user about the limitations of accessing or using the data. The NPS Distribution Liability could logically go in the Use Constraints, but there is a designated place for a Distribution Liability in the Distribution section, and the NPS Distribution Liability is automatically added to your metadata by the NPS Metadata Editor.
